Scrapbook Vinyl
Vinyl is one of the greatest new products in the scrapbook world. Scrapbook vinyl is available to use with nearly any type of design cutting device. The best tool to use however is a machine like the Cricut by Provo Craft. These personal electronic cutters will take a blank sheet of scrapbook vinyl and cut out any type of lettering or other designs depending on the cutter and cartridges you have. There are also computer programs available like Sure Cuts A Lot to make these cutters more powerful and versatile.
When using one of these cutters with your scrapbook vinyl the blade of the machine is set to cut just through the vinyl material itself. This vinyl material has an adhesive on the back, so it comes attached to a protective backing. After the cutting is done the vinyl you don’t want is removed or weeded out. With the weeding complete you can now use transfer tape to take all the elements of your cutting from the backing to your scrapbook page. This makes a lot more sense if you see it done. Check out our video, Complete Basic Vinyl.
The greatest thing about scrapbook vinyl is that you don’t have to buy lots and lots of different scrapbooking things. Sure your still going to buy some stuff, but now you can make some of your own.
Scrapbook vinyl can also be used to make all kinds of other projects as well. Vinyl is commonly used in sign making. Scrapbook vinyl can be used to make your own signs.
